Once you have downloaded the client you go straight to the options menu.
General Settings:
What is Seeding? Websites you use to download torrents expect you to upload some amount of data in a set ratio. A fair practice so that we give out something along with whatever we download. This process is called seeding. Less seeded downloads slowly die out from the respective servers.
Under the general tab, make sure you have checked the following options: “Close to tray” , “Minimize to tray” and “Always show the tray icon”. Why? Because it is better to keep the torrent client always open in order to seed and gain a higher ratio
Downloads:
Use a folder for completed downloads and a sub folder inside this folder for temporary data. Creating folder for temporary data somewhere else on the hard disk slows down your system when the temporary data is to be transfered to original folder after download completes.
Connection Settings:
Use random port everytime for incoming connections so that even if someone trackes your port once, he/she will not get the same result the next time. Just my common sense.
Queuing Settings:
By default 8 torrents can be downloaded at the same time. Now depending on your internet connection speed you can change the numbers. Remember that a slow internet connection and a larger queue will result in slower donwload.
Use the Hot Key (Boss Key):
Under “Others>BossKey” you can set up your own keyboard key to hide the window if someone suddenly interrupts.
We agree that torrents are highly criticized by those who create commercial games, softwares, ebooks etc. as the pirated versions of these are (almost) always available on most of the torrent websites. CompuWorld wants to clear the fact that by this post we do not support piracy but we want to introduce our readers to a platform over the Internet which has a collection of some very useful resources.
